About Ceres Tag

On returning to the family farm, after 20+ years working as professionals in industries including energy, construction and education around the world, the concept for Ceres Tag was born. Originating from producing backgrounds themselves, founders David and Melita, wanted to allow livestock producers globally, better access to data driven decision making tools.

Food, Fibre And Fodder

Ceres Tag addresses is the need for producers needs to deliver more food, fibre and fodder to a growing global population whilst suffering reduced access to arable land and fresh water. So at top level, Ceres Tag is helping with the problem of farming efficiency. 

At lower level and more specifically to livestock management, animal protein supply chain logistics and the demands of the modern consumer, require new levels of transparency, traceability and provenance. 

No other smart tag information platform exists with a series of communication technologies that allows this seamless paddock to plate traceability.  

Form + Function

The visual product language of the Ceres Tag range was developed in combination with the corporate brand language to communicate the brands values of quality, confidence and Insight and value. 

Voluminous positive forms convey the power and confidence of the system yet technical cut back corner chamfer details articulate its precision. 

These form details have been successfully integrated into a low profile tag that sits neatly and safely against the animals ear. This form language also provides the applicator good semantic cues on how to operate the device whilst allowing for good ergonomics, clean-ability and maintenance. The applicator is a light weight, precise, ergonomically adjustable tool for all farmers to use all day long. Die-cast from premium aluminium alloys the applicator only weighs 600 grams and is easy to clean and maintain. 

Science, Technology + Design

Ceres Tags Farm expertise in partnership with the CSIRO has allowed for R&D input form world class engineers from Data61 as well as best in field animal research scientists to devise a completely new animal management technology.

Good industrial design processes combined with world class manufacturing has managed to physically encapsulate the Ceres Tag / CSIRO science and technology and deliver an innovative , meaningful and ultimately very high quality product and data service to market. 

Safety First

 Safety of both the farmer and their animals is critical for Ceres Tag. 

A design key for this is secure retention system that requires significantly less insertion force and pain to the animal. If force and pain can be reduced, safety for the applicator operator can be increased. We are pleased to report that Ceres Tags can be inserted with no pain reaction and dangerous head movements noted from the animal in response!  

Once on ear, the internationally certified Ceres Tag and its tracking software takes over monitoring animals health and safety for the rest of its life.
